Tips on How to Clean You Stethoscope
People may find doctors to be professional in their field. However, doctors do not take everything for granted. They also learn many things other than saving people’s lives. One of those things that they should be careful and mindful with is the cleaning of their equipment.
Taking care of their medical equipment is a must, because it might cause more problems if they weren’t maintained. Here are some tips to keep the stethoscope in top quality.
The rubbery part of the equipment should not be wiped or cleaned with detergents or even alcohol. It is still preferred that these equipment be rubbed only with a dry cloth, since putting the said chemicals on these rubbery parts will dissolve some parts of it, which will make it look old. There are chemicals, however, that are available in the market that are tried and tested to clean the equipment without damaging its parts. A Littmann stethoscope has this part that the doctor needs to adjust, so that part should be properly maintained.
Do not put the equipment just out there lying somewhere. Chances are it might get bacteria or germs along the way, which will not only be harmful for the patient, but also for the doctor if it goes inside his/her body. A MDF stethoscope and a pediatric stethoscope are examples of stethoscopes that are used to check on the highly vulnerable patients – the elderly and the toddlers.
